Cabling and Twinning
There are a variety of machines Kemcor uses for twisting and cabling wires together.
Twinners/Quadders: These machines are used for twisting together two, three or four wires. The equipment can be adjusted to produce product with any requires lay length.
Kemcor has two twinner/quadders which have taping heads attached and are used for manufacturing shielded or un-shielded pairs, trios or quads.
Bunchers: A machine used for twisting wires together in a random arrangement. The components do not necessarily lie in a fixed relationship, although an attempt is made to achieve this by using a converging plate - a plate with holes arranged in a pattern.
Kemcor has three bunchers and can cable any number of conductors, provided the cable diameter does not exceed one inch. Shielded components can not be cabled successfully on this equipment since each revolution of the take-up reel causes a complete twist in cable components. This back twist tends to damage the cable shield and can cause shorts between conductors. All Kemcor's cablers are equipped with process control equipment which monitor and maintain process parameters for consistency and repeatability.
Planetary cablers: These are the most versatile type of cablers, laying up any number of shielded, braided, or jacketed components in a prearranged sequence. Since these cablers have pay-off reels which maintain a horizontal position during cabling, no back twist is imparted to the conductors. They are primarily used where delicate conductors, such as coaxial cables, are cabled.
Kemcor has two planetary cablers for cabling delicate cables where electrical properties are critical to cable performance. As with our bunchers, we are able to maintain very precise cabling tolerances for superior cable performance.
Due to the many design factors which influence cable performance, we encourage you to contact us to discuss your applications.
